"This race is hotter than a Times Square Rolex."

Rather Is Lossing It

Out going CBS News lead anchor Dan Rather is now seeing ghost. Rather made this statment to The Hollywood Reporter:

And then there was this: “Ed Murrow’s ghost is here. I’ve seen him and talked to him on the third floor of this building many times late at night. And I can tell you that he’s watching over us.”

March 9 will not get here anytime soon.

Report from from WDBJ

It's Condi

Condoleeza Rice has official been named the next Scretary of State.

2008 Polls

Less than two weeks after Election 2004 ended Election 2008 is heating up. Gallup has already done a poll for both Democrats and Republicans.

Republicans:

John McCain 10
Rudy Giuliani 10
Colin Powell 7
Jeb Bush 3
Condoleezza Rice 2
Bill Frist 2
Arnold Schwarzenegger 2

This poll was done Nov. 7-10 2004. It included 505 Republican leaners. Three of the people will not or can not run Colin Powell and Jeb Bush will probably not run and Arnold Schwarzenegger can not run since he was not born in the US. This poll left out George Allan. I am glade they did put Rice in there.

Democrats:
Hillary Clinton 25
John Kerry 15
John Edwards 7
Bill Clinton 3
Barack Obama 3
Al Gore 2

This poll was also done Nov. 7-10 2004. It included 465 Democrats or leaners. I do not know why they included Bill Clinton since he can not run anymore. Barack Obama may run in 2012 but not in 2008. Al Gore will never run for elected office again. John kerry does not have a chance. Billary (Bill and Hillary)will win the hearts of the Democrats and win the nomination.

Bush Job Approval

Gallup,Rasmussen, Annenberg, and Zogby have how relased job approval polls for the President.

Gallup: 53%
Rasmussen (daily): 54%
Annenberg: 53%
Zogby: 48%

So the only poll with the President's approval below 50% is Zogby. I don't think too many people take a lot of notice of his polls anymore, after he said Kerry would win the election.

Rice to State

Condoleezza Rice is the likely successor to Colin Powell according to CBS, if you can trust them. Rice would be a good successor for the job, although it may mean a no go for '08. Another possibility would be that Chaney stays on for a couple more years and Rice takes over for him and begins for bid for president.

Update: Several news outlets are saying that Rice will successd Powell.

Flash

Sec. Of State Collen Powell has announced he is resigning.

More to come.

Update (10:47): Fox News: Abraham, Paige, Venneman also have resigned. Also a report is out that Bush will replace at least half of cabinet. No word on who else will leave.

Update (12:48): This is the best thing for both the president and Powell. They have disagreed over how to handle Iraq and many other policies.

Warner in '08

Speculation is growing that Virginia's tax raising governor Mark Warner will run for president in 2008. Warner has yet to make any comment on his future. He is also talked about running against George Allen in 2006. The Washington Post smeed to think that he was a good canidate. They must have forgot that he lied to the everyone and raised taxes where we now have a $1 billion dollar surplus.

This Will Go Over Good

Drudge is reporting that the FDA will announce tomorrow that all medicine bottles will have tiney radio antennas soon. This will be done to help in the fight against abuse and fraud. This will not go over good with the privacy groups and I would have to agree with them on this one, although I guess we will just have to start taking the labels off the bottles now. However, the government will tell us that we can not do so, even though we payed for the bottle and label.

Another Job Approval Poll

Rasmussen is still doing his daily tracking poll and President Bush's job approval is now at 56% in his poll.

Saturday, November 13, 2004

Bush Job Approval

A new poll by Gallup and Cnn on Bush's Job Approval.

Approve 53%
Disapprove 44%

And the mirror can now ask the question "How can 60,367,521 people be so dumb.

This information came from the The Hedgehog Report

Guilty

The jury in the Scott Peterson case finally came back with a verdict yesterday. After being out a week the jury found Peterson guilty of first degree murder, second degree murder. These means that Peterson will face the death. The jury has now been freed from there imprisonment, however there job is not done they must return in a week to decised if Peterson gets death. No word on weather the judge will hold the jury against there will during this phase of the trial.

Virginia $1 Billion Surplus

Virginia could have a $1 billion surplus at the end of the year. Already there is talk about how that money will be spent and of course there is no talk about giving that money back to the tax payers. I just hope that if this money is not going back to the people that education and law enforcement, new cops and more prosecutors to prosecute real crimails, gets this money. By real crimnals I do not mean Martha Stewart or speeders, I mean Scott Peterson or terrorist.

Update on CBS Special

Yesterday CBS fired the news producer for breaking into the top rated entertainment show "CSI: New York", according to a report by Reuters. According to the report CBS was just surpposed to run scroll on the screen rather than airing a special report. NBC and ABC did not do a special report. Even though the producer worked for CBS he or she should have never been fired. All she did was deliver news to the viewers, which in reality is the networks job. All networks should have done a special report and the local affiliates should have taken it instead of local news.

Frist Taking Action for Nominees

After four years of the Demorcats filibustering President Bush's judical nominees Senate majority leader Bill Frist is going to fight the filibusters. Senator Frist did not say how he was going to stop the Demorcats. One opition is lower the number of Sentors needed to break the filibuster. Another opition is the the filibustering of presidentail nominees unconstitutional, but Republicans are unwilling to do this because if they are ever back in the minority it could back to hurt them. The opition I like best, is the force the Demorcats to actully have to make a filibuster. That is where one Senator goes and talks about anything for as long as he or she wants. Make them do it the old way.

Thank Your FCC and PTC

Tonight ABC is planning on airing the movie "Saving Private Ryan," however local stations are now worried that the FCC, or in my opion the Federal Communist Commission, will find them. ABC affiliates in Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and West Virginia are the ones refusing to air the movie. These in include the Sinclair Broadcasting Corp. ABC affiliates. This of course has been brought about things to Janite Jackson. The Parents Televison Council has said that they would have no problem if this move aired. Several affiliates have tried to get the FCC to tell them if they would be fined if they aired this, however the FCC trying to avoid censorship will not rule until after they have a complante and the movie is aired. The FCC trying to avoide censorship, never thought I would hear that line again. There are really two issues here. The first does the FCC and any other goverment agancy have the right to fine the networks. I say no. I belive in the slogon "Feedom, Democracy, and Capitalism." Cenorship is not capitalism it is communism. The FCC and other agancies should never issue fines for content on TV. The other issue is local affilites pre-empting network coverage. They are first and formost network affilites they should like it. All networks have local time built in, expect of breaking news well in some cases (read below). Government do your job to defend us from murders, terrorist, and other horriable crimanls.

CBS Apologizes for Special Report on Arafat Death

Today CBS official apologized for "An overly aggressive CBS News producer jumped the gun" and went ahead with the special report last night. The report was original planned to be offered to local stations in replace of local news. The report instead forced fans of the show "CSI: NEW YORK" to miss the finale few minutes of the show. Before I begin my lecture I would like to say that Arafat was and always will be a terrorist. However, he was a major player on the world stage and his death should result in CBS interrupting CSI or any other shows that would have been on. Secondly CBS should never give local affiliates the option to take local news over such an important death. I know my local CBS station would never have shown this report as local news in Southwest Virginia is much more important than national events. I do not know if my local NBC and ABC stations took the report, as again local news is much more important than this. These are the same stations that takes local news over a former president's funeral. However, I do not know if NBC and ABC did break into there regular lineups. I know that FOX did and of course the local station did not take choosing Seinfeld. The local stations for Southwest Virginia are NBC (WCYB), CBS (WJHL) the main one, ABC (WKPT), and FOX (WEMT).

Yasser Arafat is Dead

1929-2004 Posted by Hello

Finialy after days of waiting, one of the greatest mass murders in history has died. Yasser Arafat died tonight in a Paris France hospital. This can only mean good news for the peace process. The big worry now is who takes his place, they could be better or worse. Lets just hope it is better.

More: Chirac "It is with emotion that I have just learnt of the death of President Yasser Arafat, the first elected president of the Palestinian Authority," Chirac said in a written statement on Thursday. "I offer my very sincere condolences to his family and to people close to him." Chirac went on to say that the international community to perseve the peace plan. Peace is a very good possiablely now that Arafat is gone. But we will have to give people like Chirac and John Kerry time to grave for the dead terroist that they loved so much.

But: Prime Minister John Howrd said that, "Arafat will be remembered as a leader who failed to grasp an opportunity for peace in the Middle East."

President Bush issued this statment: "The death of Yasser Arafat is a significant moment in Palestinian history. We express our condolences to the Palestinian people. For the Palestinian people, we hope that the future will bring peace and the fulfillment of their aspirations for an independent, democratic Palestine that is at peace with its neighbors. During the period of transition that is ahead, we urge all in the region and throughout the world to join in helping make progress toward these goals and toward the ultimate goal of peace."

CNN: Mahmoud Abbas has been named as Arafat's replacment as PLO chairman. Parliament Speaker Rawhi Fattuh has been sworn in as the new Plaestinian President. Elections to for a new president must take place within 60 days.

Fallen Dictators' Reaction to Arafat's Death

A report from hell: Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler met Yasser Arafat at the firey pits of hell this morning. Stalin and Hitler offered there congadulations to Arafat for a job well done, to kill as many people that he could. After there geetings they all went to pits of hell to waite for the all of the other terroist and murders that will be dying in the next 10-15 years.

Old VA Poll

A Mason Dixon poll was done in September.

Kilgore 40%
Kaine 35%
Undecideds 25%

Warner's job appovel is 58%.

Even though this poll was done over a year in advance it is still good news for Kilgore. I do not know if there is a poll out for the other races.

Flash

Today the Department of Homeland Security lowered the terror alert level from orange to yellow for the areas raised that were raised a few months ago. Also the Federal Reserve raised interest rates to 2%. Alan Greenspan is doing his best to take down the economy. This man needs to go now. He done this before and he is trying to do it again. Remove this man now. The internet conntiction I am using right now, a college network, could go out at any minute. So it might be impossible for me to post any time soon.

Update on Arafat

Palestinian officials now say that Yasser Arafat has liver and kidney failure. It now appears that his death or the announcment of this death is getting closer and closer as time goes by.

More to come.

Here we go again

Another juror has been dismissed in the Scott Peterson case. This time it is juror number 5. Ealer in this long trial there was another juror number and he was dismissed. This comes one day after another juror was dismissed, for what many believed that she done some research on her own. This is just another bad step for this juror that is being held against there will. If another juror has to be dismissed there needs to be a mistrial. However, if this judge keeps this thing going he need to free these jurors.

Flash

President Bush has now chosen White House counsel Alberto Gonzales as the next Attorney General. This according to the AP. In the same report the AP says that Pres. Bush meet with Secretary Powell this morning. Could we have another annoucment later today?

A Belgium Political Party Banned

The Belgium top country has outlawed the largest political party in Belgium, which is called Vlaams Blok. According to the so called court the party is racit. The arctile that I read did not say why they are accused of being racit. This is the first time that a so-called democratic regime outlawed the country's largest political party in the western world. I think I speak for all freedom loving people when I say that this ruling needs to be overturned fast. A political party should never be defented by judges, they should be defented by the people. But that is a view of an American not a European.

New Attorney General

The DRUDGE REPORT is reporting that President Bush will announce today the next attorney general. Top contenders appear to be former deputy attorney general Larry Thompson, Alberto Gonzales, Marc Racicot, Rudy Giuliani, and George Pataki. There is no word on when the announcement will be made.

Flash

Attorney General John Ashcroft and Commerce Secretary Don Evans have resigned. There are no word on replacements.

Oh Great

News reports have another possible problem in the Scott Peterson trail. A juror has done some research on his or her own. The defense attornery may have asked for a mistrial. However, the judge may replace the juror. I don't know about anyone else but I want this thing to be over. It is costing the state of California millions of dollars. Beyond wasting five months of this jury's life this judge is holding them against there will, which I thought was illegal. It is time for this thing to come to and end, and fast.

Flash: Juror number 7 has been removed and replaced with with another whose nick name appears to be Pinke, according to the reporters that have nothing to do. And to beat it all CNN sent out a Breaking News Alert for this. End this thing NOW

Arafat Dead Not Dead

One report comes out from Reuters saying Yasser Arafat is dead and now there is a report that the French doctors (of course they are French) are saying that Arafat is not dead. Reuters sent out both reports. However, all of the reports that I have seen have Arafat getting worse insented of better. No matter what is happens to Arafat it apperars that he will never control the Palestinian people again. At the top of the 11 o'clock hour Fox is saying that Arafat only has a few more hours to live. Also Fox said that he is on life support and that a decision is being made to take him off of life support right now.

Update: The Palestinian foreign minister has just held a press confress. The doctors have ruled out cancer, poison, and other medical problems, however the cause of Arafat's illness is unknown. The minister also informed the press that Arafat would not be taken off of life support

Updates will be provided when they come in.

Condi in 08

This was just talked about on Fox News. Dick Morris said that Condi Rice is the best canidadte for to take on Hillary Clinton in 2008, not saying that either person will run. But he is right Condi Rice would be an easy win. I have added several new blogs to the links section, and also a link to a new website called Love It or Leave It.

Chairman Dean

The Drudge Report is reporting that Howard Dean wants to chairman of the Democratic Party. Now that will insure another loss for the Democrats for the next four to five elections. Mr. Dean is to far left of reality and after the so called "dean scream" he wants to be the chairman.

Update: Does anyone know where Terry McAuliife is? I don't know when the last time anyone heard from him.

Welcome

Welcome to Politics in Virginia. This blog has been created to provide the best coverage of politics in Virginia, since we are now with in one year of electing the next governor. Even though this blog was created to cover Virginia I will also provide updates on national and international politics.

I am a Republican that surpported President Bush and Kevin Triplett in this past election. I support Jerry Kilgore for governor and Steve Baril for attorney general. I have not had time to make up my mind for lieutenant governor.

Again welcome to Politics in Virginia.
