Tonight ABC is planning on airing the movie "Saving Private Ryan," however local stations are now worried that the FCC, or in my opion the Federal Communist Commission, will find them. ABC affiliates in Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and West Virginia are the ones refusing to air the movie. These in include the Sinclair Broadcasting Corp. ABC affiliates. This of course has been brought about things to Janite Jackson. The Parents Televison Council has said that they would have no problem if this move aired. Several affiliates have tried to get the FCC to tell them if they would be fined if they aired this, however the FCC trying to avoid censorship will not rule until after they have a complante and the movie is aired. The FCC trying to avoide censorship, never thought I would hear that line again. There are really two issues here. The first does the FCC and any other goverment agancy have the right to fine the networks. I say no. I belive in the slogon "Feedom, Democracy, and Capitalism." Cenorship is not capitalism it is communism. The FCC and other agancies should never issue fines for content on TV. The other issue is local affilites pre-empting network coverage. They are first and formost network affilites they should like it. All networks have local time built in, expect of breaking news well in some cases (read below). Government do your job to defend us from murders, terrorist, and other horriable crimanls.
